Volsted Cape Sugarbird is a classic Old Tom Gin with an aromatic twist. It is created with an extra focus on citrus – especially the characterful black lime , which adds depth and complexity. To balance the sweetness and highlight the gin's structure, extra of the classic gin botanicals have been added, resulting in an elegant and harmonious gin with both body and freshness.
Black lime is a green lime that is first salted and then dried in the sun. This process concentrates the flavors and creates intense, deep citrus notes with a slightly dark edge. This gives Cape Sugarbird its special character and a citrus profile beyond the ordinary.
Cape Sugarbird is named after the South African bird of the same name – an elegant and exotic bird with a long tail and a distinct presence, just like this gin, which stands out in the glass.
