Talisker – Skye's spicy and smoky gem
Talisker Distillery is located along the windswept coast of the Isle of Skye – a name that will ring a bell with many whisky enthusiasts. Since its founding in 1830, Talisker has left its mark on the world of Scotch whisky with power and character. Until 2017, it was the island’s only distillery, giving it a special place in Scotland’s whisky history.
The whisky from Talisker is known for its smoky flavour profile and peppery spice, which is distinct from other Scottish single malts. It is a maritime whisky, where notes of the sea, salt and warm spices go hand in hand. Its dark golden glow and intense aromas reflect the wild nature that surrounds the distillery.
The distillery uses traditional methods and still distills with the craftsmanship of the old days. The water comes from a nearby mountain spring, and this helps give Talisker its full-bodied and complex character. Aged in oak barrels, the whisky gets its fine balance between sweetness, smoke and strength.
A glass of Talisker doesn't just taste good – it feels like taking a trip to Skye with all that wind, salt and fire that comes with it.
