Glenfarclas 25 Year Old is a classic Speyside whiskey that exudes the beloved sherry character we know and value at Glenfarclas. Although it matures in Oloroso sherry casks for its entire life, it is less of a sherry bomb than the 15-year-old version, which is a classic of the genre.
On the nose you find classic sherry notes - candied walnuts, smoked almonds - with a touch of menthol, orange marmalade and maybe a hint of coffee grounds. Quite subtle.
The palate is incredibly clean and balanced, but at the same time rich and robust. Sherry and oak work beautifully together and create a nice, slight sharpness next to the gingerbread, creamy barley and bitter chocolate flavors. Very long aftertaste.
AROMA
A hint of menthol. Classic Sherry notes, perhaps less pronounced than the 15 year old, but the complexity is greater.
TASTE
Incredibly clean mid-taste, but incredibly acidic. Really spicy top notes. Sherry and creamy barley, hints of gingerbread and nutty chocolate.
