A LESSON IN TIMING
The Macallan Oscuro is produced exclusively in oak casks seasoned with Oloroso Sherry. An unusually large proportion of these are first bottlings, giving the whiskey a rich, deep color and intense flavor.
When the casks are at the peak of maturation, the whiskey is carefully reduced to 46.5% alcohol by volume with natural spring water drawn from boreholes deep beneath the Macallan Estate. It is then matured in dormant casks for at least six months so that the flavors can "marry" and harmonize. It undergoes no further reduction in strength and is filtered without chill filtration at room temperature before being bottled for your enjoyment.
AROMA Ripe forest fruits, dark chocolate, orange, creamy vanilla.
TASTE Delicate fruits, rich sweetness and spice. Dried figs, ripe oranges and a hint of crisp apples.
