Distilling the Spirit of New York

Driven by boundless curiosity, a thirst for knowledge, and a deep appreciation of craftsmanship, Polly Logan, The Macallan Whisky Maker, and Joan Roca from the twice-awarded World’s Best Restaurant El Celler de Can Roca, set out on a pursuit of expertise.

They travelled into an unfamiliar New York to distill its soul into a distinctive single malt whisky, inspired by the creative city and its people.

During her time in New York, Polly drew inspiration from the city's towering architecture, including the Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, and the Statue of Liberty. Much like New Yorkers themselves, these landmarks stand tall and proud, shaping one of the world's most recognizable skylines.

THE PEOPLE OF NEW YORK
Together with Joan Roca, Polly met a group of remarkable New Yorkers who live in the city, feed its energy, and have all been shaped by this iconic place in one way or another. From musician Wynton Marsalis to street artist Lady Pink, each brought their own inspiration to the project, revealing a new side of New York.

NOTES FROM THE BIG APPLE
All of this comes together in a unique whisky that builds on The Macallan's signature subtle apple notes—a fitting flavor profile when distilling the essence of the "Big Apple".

The whisky also captures the sweetness of classic American candy, with peanuts and chocolate as central tasting notes. It pays tribute to New York's shimmering pavements through a distinct mineral character, while reflecting its optimistic nature with an invigorating citrus lift that mirrors the towering skyscrapers and broad, tree-lined avenues.

The colour is directly inspired by the amber glow of a New York sunrise as day breaks over the city's iconic skyline.
