Inspired by the scenic surroundings of the Macallan distillery in Speyside, especially the iconic River Spey, this whisky lives on as a tribute to Scottish heritage, craftsmanship and conservation.

The whisky is created by Macallan whisky maker Steven Bremner, who has hand-selected five different types of American and European oak casks. Together, these casks create a complex and elegant character that reflects the diversity and depth found in the Spey area.

Fragrance

Macallan Edition No. 6 opens with an inviting aroma of rich fresh fruit, nutmeg and a hint of ginger. Added to this are notes of dark chocolate, toffee, vanilla and deep oak, creating a harmonious and warm fragrance profile.

Taste

On the palate, the whisky unfolds with elegant layers of plum and sweet orange, followed by warm spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg. The oak balances beautifully with notes of toffee and subtle hints of oats, giving a rounded and satisfying finish.

As well as its outstanding flavour profile, Edition No. 6 is also part of a larger story. It celebrates The Macallan’s partnership with the Atlantic Salmon Trust, which works to conserve the endangered Atlantic salmon – a symbol of Spey’s identity and ecosystem. Assessment

Macallan Edition No. 6 is a complex and thoughtful whisky that impresses both aesthetically and in terms of taste. The antique brass colour is beautiful in the glass, and the high alcohol content of 48.6% makes it powerful without being too dominant. It is not smoked, making it suitable for both beginners and seasoned whisky enthusiasts who love the classic Speyside expression.
