Production & Craftsmanship – Tradition Meets Precision
The production of Stauning RØG is rooted in traditional methods and a meticulous approach to quality. The grain is 100% floor-malted at the distillery, manually turned and kiln-dried over heather and peat, imparting the signature smoke character.
Distillation takes place in 24 small, direct-fired copper pot stills, where the spirit is double distilled to achieve clarity and complexity. This hands-on method ensures precise control and contributes to the whisky’s structure and depth.
The whisky is matured in American oak casks, providing warmth and body, before being finished in Madeira casks, which add softness, fruit notes, and further complexity. It is bottled without added color and is non-chill filtered, preserving its natural integrity.
