Sherry Oak

The Macallan Sherry Oak range features a range of single malt whiskeys matured exclusively in hand-picked Oloroso sherry oak casks from Jerez, Spain for richness and complexity.

Aged exclusively in sherry-seasoned oak casks from Jerez, our rich, fruity and full-bodied new make spirit transforms into a classic single malt characterized by spice, dried fruit and ripe oak with a depth of flavor that develops through the series from 12 to 40 years old.

To create the range, Macallan works closely with fully integrated companies in Spain who work from tree to finished seasoned barrel, identifying oak trees in the northern Spanish forests, felling the trees, sawing and air-drying the oak staves before sending them south to be air-dried further to reduce the humidity even more. The casks are then aged for 18 months before being shipped to Scotland to be filled with The Macallan "new make" spirit.
