Classic Grand Cru Champagne with precision and character
Lucien Roguet Grand Cru No 1 Tradition is an elegant and terroir-driven champagne from the highly regarded Grand Cru commune of Mailly-Champagne in Montagne de Reims. Here, generations of craftsmanship combine with the area's special chalk-rich soil and cool exposure, creating a champagne with finesse, freshness, and depth. The cuvée is made exclusively from grapes from the family's own vineyards and represents the house's signature style: balanced, pure, and uncompromisingly classic.
The blend consists primarily of Pinot Noir supplemented by Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, which gives a harmonious champagne with structure, freshness, and aromatic complexity. The result is a cuvée that shows why Mailly-Champagne is considered one of the most sought-after villages in the entire region.
Aroma and taste with finesse
In the glass, No 1 Tradition has a beautiful golden colour and a persistent stream of fine, lively bubbles. The aroma opens elegantly with notes of white flowers, ripe citrus, fresh pear, and yellow stone fruits, followed by subtle nuances of brioche, pastry, and light vanilla.
The palate is creamy and precise with a fine linear structure. Ripe apples, candied citrus, nuts, and mineral notes meet in a harmonious whole. The fresh acidity lifts the wine and provides energy, while the finish is long, clean, and refined. It is a champagne with both immediate charm and serious depth.
Made with time and patience
Grand Cru No 1 Tradition is aged for a minimum of 36 months in the cellars, which adds complexity, texture, and a fine integration of fruit and autolytic notes. The dosage is kept moderate at around 4 g/l, preserving the wine's natural freshness and the precision of the terroir.
The meticulous vinification underscores the house's philosophy: quality is created first and foremost in the vineyard, but is perfected through precision in the cellar. Therefore, this champagne is both stringent and generous – a rarely balanced expression.
Perfect as an aperitif – strong at the dinner table
No 1 Tradition is an extremely versatile champagne that works excellently as an aperitif, but also has enough structure for gastronomic pairings. Try it with oysters, lobster, scallops, sushi, or firm aged cheeses. It also pairs beautifully with lightly spiced dishes or elegant poultry dishes.
It is a champagne that enhances any occasion – from celebrations and receptions to a serious dinner where only the best is good enough.
Lucien Roguet – independent producer with Grand Cru roots
Lucien Roguet is a family-owned champagne house with roots dating back to the late 1800s. Today, the house is still run independently by the family, who own approximately 7 hectares of vineyards located exclusively in Mailly-Champagne. This makes Lucien Roguet a rare producer in the area, where many grapes are otherwise sold to the large houses.
