Pure Chardonnay from Grand Cru vineyards in Mailly-Champagne
Lucien Roguet Grand Cru No 2 Blanc de Blancs is a refined and terroir-driven champagne created exclusively from Chardonnay from selected Grand Cru parcels in Mailly-Champagne. While the area is particularly known for Pinot Noir, this cuvée shows how convincingly Chardonnay can express itself on the chalky slopes of Montagne de Reims. The result is a champagne with elegance, energy, and impressive depth.
This Blanc de Blancs combines freshness and structure in a clean style, where the grape variety's finesse meets the area's mineral character. It is a champagne for the quality-conscious connoisseur who seeks more than just light bubbles – here you get seriousness, length, and character.
Aroma and taste with freshness and complexity
In the glass, the No 2 Blanc de Blancs appears with a light golden colour and discreet greenish reflections, accompanied by a lively and persistent mousse. The nose opens precisely and elegantly with notes of white flowers, acacia, citrus, and fresh pear. After some aeration, more complex nuances of vanilla, light wood, ripe fruits, and a hint of white pepper develop.
On the palate, the champagne shows great body combined with a taut acidity and precision. The texture is creamy and harmonious, while the flavour profile offers ripe lemons, candied citrus peel, green apples, and fine mineral notes. The finish is long, fresh, and vibrant with an elegant saline finish.
Craftsmanship, reserve wine, and long bottle ageing
Grand Cru No 2 Blanc de Blancs is made according to the classic method with fermentation in steel tanks and full malolactic fermentation to create balance and roundness. The base wine consists mainly of the current vintage, supplemented by reserve wine aged in wood, which adds extra depth and complexity.
The champagne also matures for around 30 months on the lees, which gives fine autolytic nuances and a silky mousse. The dosage is kept moderate, so that the freshness is preserved while the fruit is elegantly rounded out. The result is a Blanc de Blancs with both tension and substance.
A gastronomic champagne with many possibilities
No 2 Blanc de Blancs is an obvious choice as an aperitif, where its freshness and finesse immediately impress. At the same time, it has enough body and structure to accompany food with great success. It is particularly well-suited for oysters, lobster, crab, grilled scallops, and other shellfish dishes.
It also works excellently with ceviche, sushi, light poultry, or firm cheeses. If you want a champagne that can be enjoyed both on its own and at the table, this cuvée delivers at a high level.
Lucien Roguet – Champagne with a strong identity
Lucien Roguet is a traditional family house in Mailly-Champagne, where several generations have worked with their own Grand Cru vineyards and uncompromising quality. As an independent producer, the house is among the rarer grower-producers in the area, where many grapes otherwise end up with larger champagne houses.
